Ekiti 2018: APC Accused Wike of Planning To Pay Ekiti Workers’ Salaries

Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has alleged that governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is planning to use Rivers State Resources to set off the six months salary arrears of civil servants in Ekiti State in oder to help governor Ayodele Fayose to win the heart of civil servants towards winning the July 14, 2018, governorship election in the state.

In statement Issued in Port Harcourt today by the State Publicity Secretary, Senibo Chris Finebone, the party (APC) also accused governor Wike of ordering reduction in the number of civil servants in the state.

The statement partly read :

“The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), has confirmed what first came out as a rumour that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has concluded plans to pay off six months’ salary arrears the government of Ekiti State is owing its workers ahead of the forth coming governorship election in that state.

“The curious bailout Governor Wike is about offering his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose, will be coming against the backdrop of imminent reduction of the number of civil servants of Rivers State which Governor Wike has ordered.

“It comes against a decaying secretariat complex where Rivers State civil servants endure untold inconveniences every working day. Indeed, it comes against the suffering of pensioners owed several months of gratuity and pension. Paradoxically, even political appointees of Governor Wike are enduring untold hardship, suffering and smiling except for the select cabal popularly referred to as Cardinals.

“The APC recalls that after the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2015 presidential elections, Governor Nyesom Wike effectively took over control of the party nationally and has since been spending billions of naira belonging to Rivers taxpayers to sustain the PDP.

“Sadly, we recall that Governor Wike spent several billions of naira to hold an ill-fated national convention of the party in Port Harcourt in May, 2016. Afterwards, Wike single-handedly sustained the PDP with billions of naira belonging to Rivers people throughout the period the party was under the leadership of Markarfi-led caretaker committee.
