Edo Assembly Removes 2Baba’s Lover As Minority Leader

The Edo State House of Assembly has removed Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker and partner of Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia, from her role as Minority Leader.

Her removal comes amid a major leadership shake-up within the Assembly, which also affected other PDP members. Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, the former Majority Leader, and Hon. Yekini Idaiye, the Chief Whip, were also relieved of their duties.

Despite the leadership changes, PDP’s Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Hon. Maria Edeko remain in their positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively.

This reorganization follows the defection of four PDP lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC), tipping the balance of power and causing the PDP to lose its majority in the House.

Announcing the new leadership, Speaker Agbebaku named Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan (APC – Esan West) as the new Majority Leader. Hon. Addeh Emakhu Isibor (APC – Esan North-East I) and Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha (APC – Etsako West I) were appointed as Deputy Majority Leader and Chief Whip, respectively.

The PDP is expected to nominate new candidates to fill its vacant leadership positions, while the top roles of Speaker and Deputy Speaker remain unaffected by the recent changes.
