Ebenezer Obey refutes death rumours, says he’s hale, hearty

Legendary Juju musician, Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has dismissed social media rumours claiming he had passed away, reassuring fans that he is very much alive and in good health.

In a video shared on Tuesday morning, the veteran artist energetically debunked the false reports with a lively performance.

Singing in a blend of Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, Obey-Fabiyi declared the rumours baseless.

He introduced himself in the video and sang, “Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk,” making it clear that the information being spread was false.

He further stated, “There’s been fake news circulating that I, Evangelist Obey, have died. That is not true. I am alive and well. That is not the message written by Jesus.”

The false news went viral on Monday, prompting an outpouring of tributes and messages from concerned fans.

Speaking to TVC later that evening, Obey’s personal assistant, Tope Olukole, confirmed the singer’s well-being and dismissed the rumour.

“Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi is alive and in great spirits. He just recently joined in celebrating the 50th birthday of his second child’s spouse,” Olukole said, adding that the rumour had no basis in fact.

This false report comes only weeks after Obey-Fabiyi celebrated his 83rd birthday.
