The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice-Chairman (Southwest), and Governorship Aspirant, Chief Eddy Olafeso, has distributed the sum of Three Million Naira Only (N3,000,000) for the good people of Ondo State from across the 18 local governments to cushion effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to him, he has distributed the sum of One Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N1, 200, 000) to some poorest households in Ondo State in the last 3 days regardless of their party affiliation.

Starnews NG reports that he released another sum of One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N1,800,000) through the 18 local government chairmen of PDP in the state on Saturday to support the leaders of the party as palliatives during this lockdown in Nigeria.

The sum of N1.8M released by Olafeso, the Southwest PDP Chairman, was shared in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N100,000) for each local government at his residence in Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State Capital.

The sum will further be distributed by the PDP local government chairmen to leaders of the party in the various wards of their local governments.

Olafeso said the gesture was part of his efforts towards alleviating the sufferings of the people in Ondo State.

Asked how he identified the poorest households that received the N1.2M he shared across the state, he said: “ I was able to identify them through group of people facing discrimination in the society. We have different classes of people. We have those with disabilities, and we have individuals’ households living in poor quality homes and neighbourhoods. We also considered vulnerability and susceptibility for the distribution of the money without party affiliations,” he added.

He, however, preached for the unity of the PDP in Ondo State ahead of October 10 governorship election.

“I give glory to God for today. I greet all the chairmen of our party. I congratulate everyone of you for the successful conduct of our congresses across the 18 local governments. The unity of our party is very important. Opposition party must not divide against itself because a house that is divided against itself cannot stand.”

“Be one happy united family. It is easier for a governor that did not perform to win a second term election than an opposition party. This is why we must be united. Our leaders must not become the enemies of those who refused to vote them in the last Congress.

“Ondo State has no reason to be poor. But unfortunately, poverty is developing in quantum. I earmarked N3M to support the weak in this era of Easter and the lockdown caused by COVID -19. I have distributed 1.2M to vulnerable people and some poorest households in the last three days across Ondo State.”

“Today, I am giving out N1.8M cash to party leaders in the 18 LGAs of Ondo State. It will be shared N100,000 per local government”, he said.

While commending Engr Clement Faboyede led party executives in the state for outstanding leadership, he advised leaders and members of the party including those contesting for election to stop the name calling and character assassination. “ The journey must be with humility and total submission to God”, Olafeso concluded.

In attendance were Ayo Fadaka, Hon. Niyi Adebusoye and all the 18 local government chairmen of PDP and some notable leaders of the party in Ondo State.
