Hardly do people know that Madam Erelu Tinuade Mabel Onaneye, the renowned custodian of Yoruba traditional history in the diaspora, and the titleholder of Erelu Oodua and Irawo Oni of Yoruba, is from Ode Aye town in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Erelu is a woman of substance, a woman of power, a woman of positive influence and a woman of meaning.

It is not a compliment to have branded her a woman of substance, she was branded for possessing the qualities. The quality of bravery, influence, kindness, voice, morals and values.

We were all blessed with voices but not all voices are loaded to impact the society. But the voice of Erelu is loaded, impacting, liberating, influential and has contributed immensely to the society.

She doesn’t care whose ox is gored in using her voice to teach morals and values, criticise bad governance and educate the teeming youths.

If any doubted that she means what she says and whether she has the courage of her own convictions, the beautiful woman, Mabel Tinuade, had banished such doubts many times, especially when she told President Muhammadu Buhari that lockdown without food kills faster than Coronavirus before the government did something.

She was also part of the few Nigerians that knocked the President over the continued detention of Mr Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters despite a substantive court order and she never stops slamming the president not until Sowore was released eventually.

During the lockdown Erelu did not only call on President Buhari to credit poor Nigerians through Bank Verification Number (BVN) to ease the lockdown, she also practised what she preaches when she gave out cash gift between N5,000 – N10, 000 to over 100 fans across Nigeria.

She didn’t stop there, she extended her kindness also to people in her home town when she distributed food items without any condition or discrimination.

Many are on her payroll on a monthly basis and a lot of orphans in the society have benefited from her education scholarship.

From all of us at Starnews Nigeria, we are celebrating her today on her birthday for being a woman of substance who has impacted the society.

Happy Birthday once again to Erelu Oodua, a woman of substance!
