More leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have perfected plans to dump the party ahead of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo State even as the Gubernatorial Campaign kicks off today in Akure, Ondo State Capital.

Credible sources said some prominent politicians, may shock the leadership of the PDP in a few days as many of them have already perfected the arrangement to officially declare for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) with thousands of their followers beginning from Sunday (tomorrow).

Starnews Nigeria gathered that many of them are resigning from the PDP to join the ZLP by next week starting from tomorrow according to a dependable insider source.

A leader of the PDP and a former Senior Special Assistant in Ondo State under the administration of former governor Olusegun Mimiko told our reporter on Friday via a text message that he has taken his final decision to leave the PDP.

He wrote: ”Good morning my brother,
I have finally taken a decision to bow out from PDP, my decision date shall be announced soon. FYA pls”

Similarly, in a chat with our correspondent on Friday evening, a chieftain of the party and a former lawmaker also told Starnews Nigeria that he has already left the PDP for the ZLP and has been attending ZLP’s meetings, but said he would exit officially from the PDP before the end of the week.

The Lawmaker hinted that he is not alone in the planned defection as other leaders including a former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele, may also dump the PDP in weekdays.

The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Hon Agboola Ajayi and the National Leader of the party, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, are reportedly wooing a former member of the House of Representatives, and a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress Campaign Council for Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa 2020, Hon. Mike Adeniyi Omogbehin, to join the ZLP popularly known as the third force in Ondo State.

Starnews Nigeria also learnt that Ajayi and Mimiko are also working on a host of APC prominent leaders especially from Ondo South who may dump the ruling APC next week.

While Omogbehin is reportedly under pressure from his followers to join the ZLP because of the unfair treatment believed to have meted out to him by the government of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Starnews Nigeria gathered that majority of his followers who have vowed not to work for the ruling APC are already attending ZLP’s meeting in Ondo South.
