BREAKING: Enugu Governor, Peter Mbah Dumps PDP, Officially Joins APC

By: Sunday Ameh

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending weeks of speculation about his political future.

Mbah made the announcement during a televised broadcast on Tuesday, saying his decision followed “a long reflection” on the best path to reposition Enugu’s political structure and accelerate its development agenda.

“Today, after a long reflection, we have made the decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,”
the governor declared.

He explained that the move represents “a break from the past” and aligns with his vision for building a more inclusive and forward-looking political order in the state.

“Leadership sometimes demands painful decisions in the service of higher principles and goals. And there comes a time when everyone must make a bold choice to determine their destiny,”
Mbah added.

Reports indicate that members of the Enugu State Executive Council have also defected to the APC, pledging loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor’s media aide, Dan Nwomeh, shared videos on social media showing commissioners and aides chanting pro-APC slogans in solidarity.

The development marks a major political realignment in Enugu State, a PDP stronghold since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
