Bauchi Governor Sacks Women Affairs Commissioner

By Charles Maduka

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has dismissed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, from her position with immediate effect.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, announced the decision in a statement on Monday, describing it as part of a minor reshuffle in the State Executive Council.

“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect,” Gidado stated.

He added that Governor Mohammed appreciated the former commissioner’s contributions to the state and wished her success in her future endeavours.

The development follows recent disciplinary actions in the Bauchi State Civil Service. Last Wednesday, the State Civil Service Commission dismissed two senior government officials for forgery, an offence that contravened the State Public Service Rule 0327 on falsification of official documents.

Earlier, on September 11, an education officer was also dismissed for gross misconduct involving sexual harassment.
