Bandits in Hijabs Abduct School Principal, Woman in Niger

Armed bandits disguised in hijabs have abducted two persons, including the Principal of Junior Secondary School Melehe, in a late-night attack on Melehe community, Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred on Friday night when four gunmen stormed the community between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers sat casually at the entrance of the victims’ residence, pretending to be women. Around 11:00 p.m., they reportedly removed the hijabs, broke into the house, and abducted the school principal and a Fulani woman identified as Aminu Runtoje.

Residents described the attack as shocking and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and protect rural communities from further attacks.
