Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Other Nigerian Artists Receive Nominations for 2025 BET Awards

Nigerian artists Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Rema, and Shallipopi have been nominated for the 2025 BET Awards, marking another major milestone for African music on the global stage.

Ayra Starr is nominated for Best Female R\&B/Pop Artist, competing against popular artists like SZA and Summer Walker. This nomination is a big step forward in her career and highlights her growing international presence.

She is also nominated for Best International Act, alongside Rema, Ghana’s Black Sherif, South Africa’s Tyla, and eSwatini’s Uncle Waffles. This category features artists from all over the world, showing the increasing influence of African music.

Shallipopi is nominated for Best New International Act, competing with fresh talents from countries like South Africa, Brazil, and Tanzania. This recognition places him among the next big stars in global music.

Burna Boy’s nomination for Best Male Hip Hop Artist is another big achievement. He will compete with top American artists like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Tyler, the Creator, reflecting his crossover appeal and growing influence in hip-hop.

The 2025 BET Awards will take place on June 30 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. With African artists continuing to gain recognition, the awards show highlights the increasing global impact of African music.
