Atiku’s Resignation Letter From PDP Was Leaked– Spokesman

Paul Ibe, the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said that the letter detailing Atiku’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not meant for immediate public release but was instead leaked by political opponents.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday night, Ibe suggested that the leak was the work of individuals within the PDP and their allies in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who are allegedly opposed to Atiku’s political aspirations.

“We are in this situation because certain people who never meant well for His Excellency Atiku Abubakar decided to leak a private communication. Yes, it was leaked,” Ibe stated.

The resignation letter, dated July 14, 2025, and addressed to Atiku’s ward chairman in Adamawa State, became public knowledge around the same time the nation was mourning the death and burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari — a timing Ibe found unfortunate.

He also criticized the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for publicly commenting on the development, accusing him of neglecting his responsibilities in the aviation sector.

“It’s regrettable that the Aviation Minister, who has pressing issues to address such as runway safety and infrastructure, chose to weigh in on this matter as though he already knew the cause of a crash before any investigation,” Ibe remarked.

He went on to say that the public discourse surrounding Atiku’s departure from the PDP should not distract from the national mourning of Buhari, adding that the country should be focused on honoring the late former president.

“Those speculating about the reasons for his resignation—are they prophets? I believe we should redirect our attention, especially now that the nation is still grieving,” he added.

Atiku’s letter cited “irreconcilable differences” with the PDP and expressed his disapproval of the direction the party has taken, which he said deviates from its founding ideals.
