The political group led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has refuted claims that it has chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its party for the 2027 general elections.
On Thursday in Abuja, Salihu Moh. Lukman, a prominent member of the coalition, responded to news reports suggesting that the group had picked ADC as its platform.
He dismissed the reports, calling them untrue and aimed at confusing the public. He clarified that no such decision had been made.
Lukman, who once held a key role in the All Progressives Congress (APC), also addressed claims that he had been made head of the coalition’s secretariat.
He denied the report, saying there was no such appointment.
He explained that while discussions are ongoing among the coalition leaders, no final decision has been reached on which party will be used for the 2027 elections.
He expressed concern that false stories were being spread to create division among members of the coalition.
The former Director General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum urged the public and the media not to believe or spread such reports.
He stated that the coalition remains united and is still holding internal talks to decide the best way forward.
