The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed the return of the last Nigerian pilgrim from the 2025 Hajj exercise, Alhaji Musa Adamu from Ondo State, 65 days after the completion of the return airlift of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia.
Adamu, who was hospitalised in Makkah during the spiritual exercise, arrived Nigeria on Thursday night through the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, in the company of NAHCON’s Saudi Arabia Liaison Officer, Ustaz Abubakar Lamin.
He was received by the Chairman of the Ondo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Adam Zikirullah Chandy, the board’s Executive Secretary, Mohammad Muti’u Omoniyi, NAHCON Kano Zonal Office staff member, Salisu Gaya, and members of his family.
NAHCON described the return as a demonstration of its commitment to the welfare and safety of pilgrims, in line with its 2006 Establishment Act.
The commission had earlier concluded the airlift of all Nigerian pilgrims on July 2, 2025, having commenced the return journey on June 13, four days after the completion of the Hajj rites.
A total of 1,673,230 pilgrims from 171 countries, including 54,743 Nigerians, participated in this year’s pilgrimage. Nigeria’s contingent included 41,526 pilgrims from states and the Armed Forces, and 13,217 from private tour operators.
