•  Says Nigerians are tired of APC ‘calamitous Government’

The Director-General of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in Ondo State, Dr Eddy Olafeso, has said that Nigerians should give Atiku Abubakar the chance in the 2023 general elections to prove himself.

The former National Vice Chairman, South-West of the Peoples Democratic Party, made this disclosure in a radio interview monitored by Starnews Nigeria on Monday.

While sharing his thoughts on the 2023 general elections and the chances of the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Adaba FM in Akure, the outspoken Olafeso defended Atiku’s serial defection from one political party to the other since 2007.

He said, prior to the 2007 election, there was no internal democracy in the PDP which made Atiku leave for the Action Congress of Nigeria, adding that anyone with feelings and yearnings should be able to seek an alternative.

“Prior to the 2007 election, there was no internal democracy in the PDP which made Atiku leave for the Action Congress of Nigeria. In any society where you can express feelings and yearnings, you will seek an alternative”, Olafeso said.

Responding to questions on the character of Atiku, he said “l have known Atiku for over thirty years, even when l was an undergraduate at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, he is an unwavering leader. Atiku is a leader that doesn’t criticize anyone. In every zone of this country, there is an Atiku.

“Atiku is a bridge builder who believes the country must be united. In America, you will see between the ages of 70-80 years running for the presidency because they believe experience matters in Governance. Our party needs a democrat who believes in the supremacy of democratic rules. Atiku knows about Absoluteness and arbitrariness, Olafeso said.

On the disagreement between the PDP and the G5 Governors, Olafeso assured that the party will continue to talk to them for possible reconciliation and meet their demands where their yearnings do not go against the party’s philosophies and constitution.

He promised Nigerians that the PDP will improve security and stabilise the economy if elected in the 2023 general election.

“We will improve on security and stabilise the economy if returned to power. 63 years after independence, we are still talking about oil subsidies and still importing oil. We won’t run a government where our children would be allowed to die in the Mediterranean Sea.

“l am optimistic that PDP will win the 2023 election because Nigerians are tired of APC calamitous Government”, he added.
