The Federal Government’s total borrowing from the Central Bank of Nigeria through Ways and Means Advances rose from N17.46tn in December 2021 to N19.91tn in June 2022.   According to data from the CBN, this shows that the Federal Government borrowed N2.45tn from the apex bank within six months.   The N19.91tn owed the apex bank by the Federal Government is not part of the country’s total public debt stock, which stood at N41.60tn as of March 2022, according to the Debt Management Office.   The public debt stock only includes the debts of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has made arrangements for the prosecution of three individuals found to have been involved in the alteration of the 2022 presidential pardon list.   The former governors of Plateau and Taraba states – Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame – were among many individuals whose names were on the pardon list.   The three individuals, according the report of investigation by the EFCC, were found to have been involved in altering the report of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy to include the name of a jailed former Managing Director of a bank,

Following inundating calls from students and other stakeholders in education, the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has pleaded with the Federal Government to consider paying the striking lecturers some months of salaries to save them and their families from starvation.   Fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday evening on the welfare of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, Kalu pleaded with the federal government and ASUU to reconsider their stands on the persisting strike.   Kalu disclosed, “A lot of students from my constituency have been calling me over the matter and I feel it is godly
