JUST IN: UK, US warn residents against travel near Kuje prison, 19 states

The United States Embassy has warned its citizens in Nigeria against travelling on the airport road in Abuja. The warning came after suspected terrorists attacked Kuje prison and freed inmates on Tuesday. Also, United Kingdom citizens were warned not to be cautious of travelling to 19 states in Nigeria. Among the states are Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Running mate: APC chieftains seek Masari’s retention

Chelsea: Raheem Sterling agrees move from Manchester City

JUST IN: Five die, 551 Kuje prison inmates at large

Controversy surrounds Abba Kyari’s whereabouts after attack on Kuje prison

Controversy has surrounded the whereabouts of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, after bandits attacked Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, where he was kept.   The PUNCH had reported that gunmen attacked the Custodial Centre in the Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Tuesday night.   During the attack which lasted hours, some inmates were said to have escaped.   The Kuje prison is famous for holding high-profile inmates and suspects, including former governors and ministers.   According to officials, the facility houses over 900 inmates.   “We have not seen him today. BREAKING: OPEC Secretary-General, Barkindo, is dead

The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Muhammad Barkindo, is dead.   Barkindo died late Tuesday.   The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari, announced Barkindo’s death in a tweeted posted to his verified Twitter handle, @MKKyari, in the early hours of Wednesday “We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo.
