Two burnt to death in Anambra tanker explosion

Two persons have been burnt to death in a tanker explosion that occurred along the Umunya Road on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on Tuesday.   It was gathered that the tanker fell inside a gutter after the driver lost control and immediately went up in flames. Court orders payment of pension arrears to ex-Taraba gov, others

The National Industrial Court, on Tuesday, ordered the Taraba State Government to immediately pay former Governor Jolly Nyame and three others arrears of their pensions.   The other judgement creditors in the suit are Uba Ahmadu, Abubakar Armayau and Bilkisu Danboyi. The court, in addition, awarded the sum of N500,000 against the state government. EFCC declares Rivers Accountant-General, others wanted for N435bn fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared the Rivers State Accountant-General, Fubara Siminayi, and 58 others wanted for N435 billion fraud.   Siminayi, and four other Rivers State government officials, among others, are wanted for suspected N117 billion fraud, alleged criminal conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds, and abuse of office. BREAKING: CBN raises interest rate to 13.5%

The Central Bank of Nigeria has raised the interest rate to 13.5 per cent.   The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, announced this on Tuesday while addressing the reporters after the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja.   Justifying the raise, Emefiele said the MPC is suspicious “there might be an aggressive accretion of inflation”.   To prevent the looming inflation, he said, the MPC had to increase the monetary policy rate by 150 basis points   Details later…
