Supreme Court Resumes Hearing Of Governorship Appeals of six states
The Supreme Court has continued the hearing of the governorship appeals from six states of the Federation. Proceedings resumed at the apex court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory one day after the court adjourned until Tuesday. God has established you as governor of Oyo, Okunomo congratulates Seyi Makinde
The leading governorship Aspirant of Ondo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Banji Okunomo, Wednesday in Akure, congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over his victory at the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Thursday, ruled in favour of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, against the decision of the Court of Appeal, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State. The Supreme court said the appeal court’s majority judgement against Makinde, was not meritorious enough, thereby, setting it aside to uphold the declaration of governor Seyi Makinde by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the duly elected governor of Oyo State.
BREAKING: Supreme Court Throws Out Atiku’s Appeal Against Buhari
The Supreme Court has dismissed Atiku’s appeal against president Muhammadu Buhari for lacking in merit. The court dismissed the appeal of Atiku and PDP filed against the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which had affirmed the election of President Buhari as president for a second term. The appeal was dismissed in the very first hearing by the apex court. “Having gone through the briefs for over two weeks we have come to the conclusion, this appeal lacks merit. The Supreme Court on Wednesday delivered its first ruling against the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Atiku and his party are before the apex court to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari at the February 23, 2019 poll. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, who leads the seven-man panel of the apex court, in the lead ruling consented to by other members, overruled Atiku and his party’s request that their seven interlocutory appeals should be heard after the main one must have been argued. The Supreme Court has fixed October 30, 2019, for the commencement of the hearing of appeal suit filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the judgment of the presidential election tribunal, which affirmed the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
