Senators are reluctant to stand as surety to a former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, his lawyer, Afam Osigwe, said. Mr Osigwe made this known on Thursday, during the ongoing criminal trial of Mr Maina, at the federal high court in Abuja. The judge, Okon Abang, who is presiding over the matter, had asked the defendant’s lawyer, whether Mr Maina has been able to perfect his bail conditions. EFCC Secures Court Order to Keep Maina in Custody
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured an order of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Bwari, to detain former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina and his son, Faisal in its custody pending the conclusion of ongoing investigation. The order which was given on October 7, 2019 following an exparte application by the anti-graft agency, empowers the commission to remand the defendants in its custody for an initial period of 14 days. The Department of State Services (DSS), says it has arrested the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Peter Afunanya, said the arrest was effected at the Pennsylvania Avenue Hotel, Utako, Abuja on September 30.
