Ondo: Banji Okunomo receives endorsement of PDP leaders ahead of 2020 election

Notable leaders of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State yesterday gathered at Domfav Hotel in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State and said that Hon. Banji Okunomo, is the man they are backing as their candidate ahead of Ondo State 2020 gubernatorial election.

In attendance were some current and former PDP local government chairmen across the 18 local governments of Ondo State, notable PDP stakeholders across the state including some former State and Federal Lawmakers in Ondo State. Others in attendance were former political office holders of the PDP and many party leaders.

A few executive members of Banji Okunomo campaign organisation were also in attendance.

The meeting was organised by Banji Okunomo campaign organisation to consult leaders of the party and seek their supports, but it ended as an endorsement for the candidacy of Okunomo, Starnews NG can authoritatively report.

While welcoming the PDP leaders, Hon. Rapheal Ademlegun, a former Senatorial Aspirant and the Director – General of Banji Okunomo campaign organisation, said that the interests of Ondo State electorates will be best served if Okunomo emerges the next governor of Ondo State.

PDP Leaders at the meeting who spoke from across the 18 local governments of Ondo State agreed with Ademulegun that the overall interests of Ondo State Citizens’ are secured, and would be protected, if Okunomo becomes the candidate of the party (PDP) and eventually elected Ondo State governor in the upcoming election.

Okunomo thanked leaders of the PDP and promised not to disappoint them if he wins the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State as the hopeful candidate of the party according to him.

He used the occasion to reflect on his previous achievements as a former chairman of the Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State.

In a live broadcast conducted by Starnews NG on Social Media, Okunomo also rolled out his blueprint for Ondo State which includes free education from Primary to tertiary education levels, showcasing his level of preparedness to succeed governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in February 2021.
