Okitipupa Council Boss Meets Eminent Elders Over Community Development

The chairman, Okitipupa Local Government, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, on Tuesday, met with stakeholders in Okitipupa local government of Ondo State, to discuss some challenges facing the local government area which bothers on community development.

The stakeholders’ meeting cuts across Eminent Elders  – an assemblage of apolitical group of retired Elder Statesmen from various Ikale communities who had distinguished themselves in various field of human endeavours, led by Comrade Goke Iwamotigha, according to a statement signed by his Media Aide, Martins Fasusi. 

Starnews reports that one of the highlights of the meeting was the naming of Ilutitun Broad Street after HRM. (Late) Oba Daniel Ikusika Juba, the Rebuja of Osooro Land, coupled with the lingering power outage in Ondo South and the high level of insecurity caused by incessant activities of miscreants within the local government.

In his speech, the honourable chairman, Omo’ba Abayomi, thanked the Elders for the visit. He expressed strong determination and political will to make positive changes in addressing some pressing issues affecting the development of the Local Government, even if it means stepping on toes.

”I am highly honoured and elated to receive you this afternoon.” 

“I think this is the largest chunk of prominent elders I will be receiving since I became the Chairman of this local government.”

“This occasion gives me an opportunity to air my views and  discuss some of the activities and challenges of this local government”.

”We must join hands together to tackle all the challenges hindering the development of Ikale nation. I am in a hurry to make positive impact in the lives of the people and we would not be deterred, no matter how short my stay here may be. I will give a midas touch to every important sector”, part of the statement reads.

He described environmental sanitation and cleanliness as one of the greatest challenges of his administration which must be given prior attention.

On the power outage, Abayomi said the State Government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in collaboration with the Federal Government are doing everything possible to restore power to all the affected communities. 

He called for patience and appealed to the elders to help sensitise and checkmate the activities of miscreants who specialises in stealing and vandalisation of electrical equipments within the LGA. 

Abayomi said the naming of Ilutitun broad street after the late Monarch was in recognition of his immense contributions to community development during his reign.

Speaking on behalf of the Elders council, Iwamotigha thanked the chairman for creating time to address all the issues presented before him. He said the group would continue to work with the leadership of the local government for progress and infrastructural development of the council.

Others members of the group in attendance were: Mr. Smile Igbekele, Chief S.A. Ogayemi, Chief Adefeyiju Ogunmola, Prince Idowu Juba,  Adebayo Williams, Sir Wumi Akinmoju, Com. Tola Olowoselu, Prince Remi Malumi, Sir Kris Karigidi(KJW), Ilusemiti Augustine, and Hon. Serili Akinyemi.
