Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, the former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, on Monday morning, attacked governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for allegedly demolishing Climax Hotel and Bar, yesterday in Akure, Ondo State Capital.

Starnews reports that a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly from Irele Local Government Area in Ondo State, and the Managing Director of Climax Hotel and Bar, Hon. Afolabi Iwalewa, accused governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of demolishing his Hotel and Bar for political reason.

Yesterday, a former federal lawmaker from Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Hon. Mike Omogbehin, reacted to the incident and condemned the demolition of Climax Hotel and Bar, describing the act as an unnecessary personal vendetta.

While attacking Akeredolu, the former Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Akindele wrote:

”I thought of an appropriate title for this report. I concluded that it may be one of two:

1. When the gods want to kill…
2. The trials of Citizen Afolabi.

I have not been able to settle for one, so I adopt both. Yesterday, Sunday 7th December, 2019, in the name of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a Task Force under the leadership of one Doyin Odebowale, an Ibadan resident of Ogun State origin who in all probability had never stepped on the soil of Ondo State before Gov Akeredolu’s bid for governorship, went to the shop of one Citizen Afolabi Iwalewa for the sole purpose of destroying it.”

”Citizen Afolabi, a former member of the state house of assembly, insists that it all started when it became clear to them that he is a close ally of a governorship aspirant in the State and possibly because of his closeness to the incumbent Deputy Governor of the State, a man who is presently suffering serious persecution from the same quarters.”

”We have in Ondo State a govt so uncaring of people’s opinions and pain that:

”1. The First Lady is the de facto Deputy Gov.

1. The Son is the de facto Chief of Staff.
2. The contractors are either from Ibadan or of Igbo extraction, all either his own or his son’s friends or his wife’s friends and relations.”

”4. Of the local appointments, 68 are in the Governor’s local govt out of which there are 58 in only 6 of 11 wards of the same local govt area while Ile-Oluji, which forms a half of a local govt area has only one appointee.”

”I don’t know how many there are in my local govt of Okitipupa but I am sure there are only a few because the cries of hunger among their party members there are deafening. The few appointees there are are doing their best but with a principal that obviously superintends the quantity of air they can breath in in every ministry or agency, to how many can they give patronage?”

”Please note that there are less than 200 appointments so far which are constitutionally expected to spread accross 18 local govt areas.”

”5. Of the famed road constructions, 80% are in the Governor’s senatorial district out of which his local govt gets a whopping 60%!”

”7. His party people are the poorest in the land.”

”8. His party is virtually comatose (thank God)!”

”9. His disdain for the people even stretches to the traditional rulers.”

”10. The government taxes poverty by making the people pay for even those things one would expect from the poorest of governments.”

”11. The Governent has overturned all the social safety nets provided by past administrations like the free maternal care for women, free health care for children, free shuttle bus rides for pupils, free education etc.”

”12. The Government recently at an Exco meeting decided to destroy people’s means of livelihood by destroying their shops in the bame of urvan renewal without providing alternatives to those vendors and artisans.”

”13. Etc. Etc. Etc.”
