Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Chief Eddy Olafeso, has expressed disappointment over some alleged failed promises of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

Olafeso, one of the governorship Aspirants of the PDP in Ondo State ahead of 2020 gubernatorial election, fired a political missile at governor Akeredolu on Sunday in a telephone interview with Starnews correspondent while reacting to some unfulfilled or failed promises of the governor.

On April 5, 2019, the Hope Newspaper said Governor Akeredolu has noted a lot of vacancies in schools in the state, and as such, has given approval for the recruitment of qualified teachers to fill those vacancies. Fact check conducted by Starnews indicated that the recruitment exercise has not taken place as of Friday, December 27, 2019, ever since the news of such approval was reported in April this year.

Also, Governor Akeredolu flagged off the construction of N19.3bn coastline road linking Ondo to Lagos on March 15, 2018. Investigation conducted by Starnews (starnews.com.ng) on Saturday, December 28, 2019, revealed that no activities is taking place in the area upon visit to the takeoff site at Araromi in ILaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Findings revealed that no contractors were seen on the site as at the time of visit by Starnews correspondent and no construction equipment was sighted when our correspondent visited the area at weekend. The only thing sighted was the sign of a few meters of road graded by Caterpillar, probably used for the flag -off of the said project. However, we never could tell if contractors are working from the Lagos bloc of the proposed road.

Receiving traditional rulers from Ikale area of Ondo state in his office, Akure, the state capital, on September 22, 2019, governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu also promised to revive Okitipupa oil palm and accord priority to reforestation in the state. Same day, Governor Akeredolu also promised that the Ore flyover bridge will be ready for use by December this year.

Starnews can report that the present condition of Okitipupa Oil palm as of today is nothing to write home about. The company is in a state of extreme comatose. And the Ore flyover bridge hasn’t yet been completed but our correspondent confirmed that the project is at the final stage.

While reacting on phone to the current situation, Olafeso described some of the governor’s promises as political gimmicks. He also defines APC as All Promises Cancelled.

”They are all political gimmicks to deceive the people. He will be held accountable at the appointed time. Remember; All Promises Cancelled!(APC)”, Olafeso told our correspondent on the phone.
